Why do I need an MOT?

Any vehicle over 3 years old is required to have an annual safety check, which is called an MOT test (Ministry of Transport test). This test checks that the vehicle meets the standard legal safety levels.

At Simon Green Motor Engineers in Horsforth, Leeds, we have a team of approved MOT testers who carry out a series of checks on your vehicle, looking inside, outside, under the bonnet and underneath the vehicle.

If your vehicle passes all the checks, we can issue a pass certificate. There may also be “advisory” items, which means that you need to keep an eye on them.

Unfortunately, not all vehicles pass the MOT test, but thankfully, we can carry out any repairs that are required and then retest your vehicle, and get you safely back on the road.

Five stars – a garage you can trust.

You truly get what you pay for with garages, and after using Simon Green for both my annual service and MOT, I’ve never had an issue. My 2016 diesel runs like clockwork, even after 100,000+ miles.

My partner, who tends to go for cheaper services elsewhere, ends up stranded on the hard shoulder every few months — which says it all. Do it properly once, and it will serve you well in the long run.

In over five years I’ve never once been spoken to unprofessionally. Yes, they’re busy, but that’s because they’re good. They’re direct, efficient, and above all, honest — and that’s exactly what I want from a garage.
